Reynisdrangar

Haven't been too happy with what I shot of the sea stacks in Vik. Found this one on one of the last rolls I had from the trip. Totally forgot I took this shot on film...glad I did.

Golden surprise

(c) 2011 Daniela Merz
I renamed this picture, since the colors kept changing quite unpredictable while feeding it to the blog...cost me some sweat to adjust the jpg format to the original. This is close, though....

Another take on Seljalandsfoss & out the back of Hotel Framnes

From the day we were snowed in. I think its one of the only times I used an ND filter the whole trip. I think ND filters are getting a bit overused these days. Tried to avoid using one as much as possible on this trip.

Slightly different than the first one I posted. This one is growing on me a bit.

First roll I shot on the first night in Vik

for some reason I overexposed, and the resulting roll has negs that are "bulletproof" dense. All the information is there on the neg, just had finagle it out to something worth while.

At Pingvellir

The Church

This is the church beside the angry guy's house.

Skogafoss

This is looking the other way at the waterfall

Another Shot From Reynis

Reyniss Beach

Just before the snowstorm hit.

Stokkseryi

Finally getting to my film. This is the very interesting place near Selfoss. It was so cold out there that I almost lost my fingers to frostbite.

Snowstorm on the beach

Danni Stomp - the picture

No secrets - this picture was the motive for all the stomping! Taken on location just before the paparazzi arrived and the movie was made...(see below)

Ahhh... The Film Version

I'm still better in the darkroom than on the computer...

Icleandic farm after the storm had passed

(c) 2011 Daniela Merz
I shot this picture out of the side window of the moving van on our way to Vik - put the camera on high Iso for a short exposure time. The storm clouds lifted a bit, and light was amazing. Still I wonder, how this split second of decision could work out. To me, this picture kind of represents the Icelandic winter, how it felt and how we experienced it. Sometimes, you get lucky...

Last one for today...

Reynis Beach...just before we all were attacked by Icelandic snow

Seljalandsfoss & the church on the hill

From the first night in Vik. Overexposed the film a bit and it lacks some contrast, but I think it might work overall.

I was kind of stumped on what to do at this water fall - thought I'd try a darker take on it.

Opening up new vistas...

Black Church

About the only thing I remember from this day was being really jet lagged and freezing my a$$ off. Really glad we made the stop though.

The Other Side of Danni's Swirls

Brave Ian

Ian gets close to the action while seemingly dwarfed by the elements.

Still there....

Still in Icleand and still shooting: Keflavik's small harbour and the town with mountains and everything you need - even a lighthouse!

Sun bath in Iceland

(c) 2011 Daniela Merz
After a long night with gale-force wind and shaking windows I went to Keflavik's rocky coast. The sun was there as if the storm never blew and invited me to take a rest.... that's Iceland!

Back in the States...

I'm having a hard time getting used to these "early" sunrises.
Hope everyone remaining in Iceland is having a good time and safe journey home to those getting ready to leave!
