Monochromatic

A perfect, monochromatic day!

Dedication

Some are more dedicated than others.  Daniel went outside in her ski clothes to shoot in the blizzard.  Mike wrapped a baggy around his camera and set up a tripod.  I photographed these from the doorway of our guesthouse, in my slippers and sweats.

Blizzard!

Last night's clear skies and Northern Lights gave way this morning to a full on Icelandic blizzard. Here our trusty steed sits getting further buried in snow. High winds and snow may keep us close to home today, but all is not lost. There is plenty to see and do within walking distance for those brave enough to face the weather.

Night Sky

Getting started...

A few images from the first day...

Tonight's Northern Lights!

10 minutes ago from Grundarfjordur!
A short 4.5 hour flight and we're in a near-arctic paradise. Arrived here at 6 AM Iceland time and the group is complete. Along for this adventure are Byron and Tina McNew, Barron Snyder, Daniela Merz, Catherine Singer, Mike Salomon, Bryan Treen, Ian Benham and yours truly. By 8AM we were on the road for the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and the town of Grundarfjordur. Weather upon arrival... rain mixed with snow changing to snow only by the time we reached our destination. This is a great group and the weather changing to partly sunny by day's end hopefully is an omen of another great trip. Sun up... 10:30AM. Sun down... 5:00PM. A short day, but we packed it in. More pictures to come!
